Industrial chemicals contain active ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), sodium hypochlorite (bleach), peroxyacetic acid, and organic peroxides. These components can release gases through chemical reactions. If the gas cannot escape, it may cause the packaging container to expand or even burst, leading to safety hazards. Many industrial chemicals that are hot-filled do not generate gas themselves, but due to temperature changes before and after hot filling, an imbalance in pressure differential between the inside and outside of the container can occur, causing the packaging to deform and affecting the product's appearance. Therefore, breathable products are needed to balance the pressure differential.

The United Nations requires the following industrial chemicals to use venting packaging:

Hazardous chemicals and commercial cleaning agents

Hydrogen peroxide: UN 2014, UN 2015, UN 2984

Mixtures of hydrogen peroxide and peroxyacetic acid: UN 3149

Organic peroxides: UN 3109, UN 3110, UN 3119, UN 3120
